g.usbamp alternatives?

Post by jmccoskey » 05 Apr 2012, 22:04

I just spoke with the US distribution agent for g.tech, who provided me with a quotation/estimate of $XX,XXXX for one 16-channel g.usbamp and power cable. Since it would take me about 15 months to earn that (sans food and shelter), I'm looking for another avenue to find something comparable that will work with the BCI2000 software. (I have looked into OpenEEG, but due to the rather high probability that their design, combined with my electrical "skills", will lead to my electrocution style death, it's not really an option.) So I have the following questions for anyone and everyone that would like to answer, guess, point me in a direction, or even impart wisdom for an eager newbie:

1) Is there any alternative to the g.usbamp that can be used with BCI2000?

2) Are there any places (physical or virtual) to buy used, discontinued, damaged, or older models of this, or any other research equipment? (like ebay, craigslist, overstock.com, auction houses, etc)

3) Are there any companies or university departments that could be negotiated with for time in a lab with one of these? (I can get all the other supplies, and don't mind working odd hours)

For a list of supported EEG hardware devices, please see the respective wiki page at
