how to connect BCI and NeuroScan Software

Hello,

My colleague and I have the NeuroScan NuAmps 40 channel EEG amplifier for research. We would like to use BCI2000 with it and have the neuroscan.exe acquisition module. However, when we run it we get errors relating to not being able to connect to Aquire.exe. We do not have this program as we only got the amplifier with the Access SDK, not the SCAN software. How are we to connect to BCI2000 if we don't have Aquire.exe?

On another note, we have recently spoken to a software developer at Neuroscan labs who said that there might be an acquisition module being built directly from the COM component (accessing the device directly as opposed to going through Aquire.exe). Is there any chance that this might be completed, or if not, when it is likely to be completed?

Hi,

The Neuroscan Source module for BCI2000 for the Access SDK is currently in development. We are currently waiting on Neuroscan to make improvements to the SDK. I hope that they will finish these improvements soon, but realistically, it will likely take a couple months for the Source module to be finished.

Thanks for your quick response. It would be great to hear when you finish the source module.

We contacted Compumedics and they have sent us the Scan software to trial. We are currently trying to get the BCI2000 to talk to the Acquire server, trying to configure the parameters so they match.

We have read in the documentation that we should use the neurogetparams command line tool, but can't seem to find it anywhere. We have looked in the cmdline Tools folder, and the same folder the Neuroscan.exe resides in. We have the BCI200Contrib binary installed. Where would the neurogetparams normally be located, or where can we get a compiled version of it if it is missing?

thanks for reporting that neuroscanget.exe is missing from the BCI2000 contrib distribution.
It will be present in the next monthly build which is due in the next days.

Hi,

Not yet. We received a beta of the AccessSDK recently, but have not yet assessed how stable it is. Please check back in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

In the mean time, BCI2000 support through the Scan software should be, while limited, working fine. Miami Childrens is using that version for mapping.

I am working with neuroscan and BCI2000 and have used the neurogetparams program to make the parameter file and modified the batch file for the cursor task signal generator; however, when I run the batch file and load the parameter file I get the following errors.

11/2/2009 2:12:51 PM - AlignmentFilter::Preflight: If not empty, the number of entries in SourceChTimeOffset must match the number of input channels.
11/2/2009 2:12:51 PM - AlignmentFilter::Preflight: Values in SourceChTimeOffset must be between 0 and 1.

Am I forgetting a step anywhere? I also used the BCI2000 launcher and got the same erros.
