BCI2000 source issue

Post by KyunghoWon » 03 Feb 2016, 06:48

Hello, I am struggling with usingBCI2000 because some of .bat files and .exe, such as CursorTask_SignalGenerator.bat, do not work.

In short, my development environment is: Windows 10 HOME (64 bit), 8.00 GB Memory, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU, and Visual studio 2012 Ultimate.

When I first tried launching .bat files by downloading binary files in Wiki, it worked. However, when I downloaded source code at http://www.bci2000.org/svn/trunk, it seemed that it was frozen. For sure, the source was successfully built in Visual Studio 2012 and created .exe and .bat files, but when I executed CursorTask_SignalGenerator.bat, command screen just shut down only after one or two seconds. In addition, when I executed BCI2000launcher.exe, only "The device: could not connect to operator" was shown.

I don't understand why .bat files don't work in my system after I build the source, even though I downloaded revision.

Thank you.

KyunghoWon,

please check whether you have blocked any of the BCI2000 executable from accessing the networks sockets. The version that you have downloaded depends on network sockets for communication between the individual modules. The error message that you receive indicates that the networks sockets are blocked.

In addition please try the latest v3.6 beta that has improved communication methods:
http://www.bci2000.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2955

Also please consider subscribing to the BCI2000 v3.6 beta test to receive updates on new builds and resolved issues:

Dear Peter,

Thank you for replying to it.

However, I am now using BCI2000 v3.6 beta R5225, and I already unblocked all the local ports in Windows firewall.

Also, when I tried to open operator.exe or .bat file, any warning message box was not shown up, it merely didn't respond.

To follow your advice, I tried it by turning off Windows firewall, but it was the same. CursorTask_SignalGenerator.bat file didn't respond, and when I clicked "launch" button on BCI2000launcher.exe, error message, "could not connect to operator" showed up.

(p.s., I tested general socket program, and it worked)

Thank you

Regards, Kyungho

KyunghoWon,

to narrow down the issue, can you pleas perform the following steps:

1) Reboot your computer.
2) Start the StimulusPresentation_SignalGenerator.bat file in the BCI2000.x64/batch folder
3) Post a screenshot of the error message.
4) Check if you are running any antivirus or personal firewall.

Peter,

I upload the screenshot that appeared when I executed StimulusPresentation_SignalGenerator.bat

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By3T8V ... sp=sharing
(The error message is "Application initialization failed")

I recorded the video to catch the screen because it disappeared shortly.

I rebooted my computer, disabled windows firewall and antivirus(windows defender), and launched the bat file.

p.s., I reinstalled BCI2000 source code several times and checked if solution was built successfully every time, and I tested on revision 5226 today

Thank you.

KyunghoWon,

thanks for the screenshot. To further isolate the problem. Can you please try to download the binary v3.6 beta [1] and run the StimulusPresentation_SignalGenerator.bat once form the BCI2000.x32/batch and once from the BCI2000.x64/batch and post screenshots from this.

Regards, Peter

Peter,

Thank you for helping me.

However, as I mentioned, bat files from BCI2000(your URL) had worked correctly. My issue was that bat files generated from source code do not work.

I wanted to create development enviroment to add signal source module, and I determined it was time consuming. Finally, I chaned my OS to Windows 7 Home 64-bit, and everything solved.

I appologize that my impatience couldn't wait for the right solution, and it might make you a little irritated.

Thank you!
