special symbols in P300 Speller

Post by Yueqing Li » 17 Dec 2008, 01:40

Hi:

We are trying to include some special symbols in the P300 Speller matrix, but found it is difficult sometimes. For example, we wanted to include the Backspace key in the matrix for the free spelling mode, so that the user could correct the wrong spelled characters by it. But I can't find a way to define the Backspace key in the target definition matrix. I can input the Display entry with any preferred symbol, but can't input the Enter entry, because when you input Backspace in that entry, nothing will be there . So, is there any way that I can define the Backspace key in the P300 Speller matrix? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

besides letters, there are special "speller commands" that you may put into the "Enter" column. E.g., backspace would be <BS>, and there is <UNDO> as well.

For more information, please see

Thank you, Juergen. I tried what you said and it worked perfectly.
I have another question to bother you.
I have checked all the Speller Control Commands, and found that there is no Space. I mean the space between two words, such as the space between signal and processing in "signal processing". I tried <SP> in the second column and it didn't work. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

just enter a space character into the "Enter" column, the way you would specify a letter.

Is it possible to display unicode characters in the P3Speller matrix?

No, there is no unicode support in the P3Speller module currently.
