parameter configuration

Post by Yueqing Li » 22 Dec 2008, 17:37

Hi:

Merry Christmas!

We are trying to transfer from BCI2000 V1.0 to V2.0 and found that the parameter configuration window changes a lot in layout, but the main content is still almost the same. Since we have done a lot of experiments and saved a lot of parameter files before, I want to know that, could we still use those parameter files we made in BCI2000 V1.0 (including general parameter file and user specific parameter file) in the V2.0?

That will save a lot of time for us if it works. We don't want to build classifiers for our existing subjects again. Thanks a lot.

v1 -> v2

Yueqing,

Updating to BCI2000 v2.0 is a very good idea. The system is not only more robust, it is now also completely documented, and parameters are much more logical and consistent compared to v1. However, because parameter names are now different, and sometimes have slightly changed their meaning, you cannot simply load a v1 parameter file and expect it to work.

What you can do is to manually adapt the parameters using the conversion table given on

http://www.bci2000.org/wiki/index.php/U ... _Version_2

However, for subjects for which you are in the middle of an ongoing study, I would always advise against changing to a different software. You may make a small mistake in changing parameters, or the new version of BCI2000 may behave slightly different compared to the old version. This way, you would be collecting data using two different types of programs.

Hope this helps.
