Problem associated with OfflineAnalysisWin.exe

Post by xtwang » 15 Jul 2015, 08:15

Hi all,

I'm a starter in using bci2000, and I'm trying to perform User Tutorial:Analyzing the Initial Mu Rhythm Session. However, as I did as instructed to use the BCI2000 Offline Analysis tool (I do not have MATLAB, so I installed MATLAB Component Runtime MCR from the link provided, which means I should open OfflineAnalysisWin.exe to perform offline analysis), a system error occurs:

The program can't start because mclmcrrt78.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I have checked the installed MCR, the file mclmcrrt78.dll does appear in the path "C:\Program Files (x86)\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime\v78\runtime\win32". The bci2000 system is installed in the path "C:\S-Programing software\BCI2000" (S-Programing software is a self-created file). Can this be the problem with installing MCR in the wrong place? How can I fix it?

Please give me some advice, thanks.

Xtwang,

to further isolate the problem, can you post your system configuration, i.e., which version of windows, 32/64 bit, etc.

Regards, Peter

Dear Peter,

It's a Windows 8.1 64 bit system.

Xtwang,

the OfflineAnalysisWin.exe only works on 32-bit systems as it was compiled for 32-bit. Installing the 64-bit redistributable will not resolve this issue. I have created a ticket (see below) to have this issue resolved with the next binary release of BCI2000. In the meantime, the workaround is to use MATLAB to run the OfflineAnalysis.m directly.

Xtwang,

we have added a 64-bit version of the compiled OfflineAnalysis tool to the SVN trunk [1].

Can you please checkout the SVN trunk [1], install the R2015a MATLAB re-distributable [2], start the OfflineAnalysisWin64.exe and report back whether this resolves your issue?

Dear Peter,

Thank you so much for your reply. Actually I bought MATLAB R2015a after your last reply, since it was in urgent use and it was the only option at that time. I've been able to perform offline analysis for quite some time. However, my college happens to have the same problem these days, and she is not intending to buy MATLAB, so I'll give her this link and let she try if this works.

Thank you for your help!

Sincerely,

xtwang

Dear Peter,

I'm also a starter user with a similar problem. When trying to open OfflineAnalysisWin I'm also getting the missing mclmcrrt78.dll notification. Even having gone to your previous provided links to download the SVN trunk for the 64bit version (I'm running windows 7 64bit os), I am still getting this error. Do you think I might be missing a step?

Best,

Danny

downstate_bci,

the fact that the mclmcrrt78.dll is missing points towards that you are starting the legacy version (i.e., the OfflineAnalysisWin.exe). This could be because you did not download the SVN trunk [1]. Please download the SVN trunk and run the OfflineAnalysisWin64.exe after downloading and installing 64-bit MATLAB R2015a runtime from [2].

Please report back whether this resolves your issues.

Regards, Peter
