A research engineer position is available from september 2014 at the Institute of Cognitive Science, Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris) to work on Brain-Computer Interfaces combined with Virtual Reality within the framework of the NeuroVirtual project.
The successful applicant will mainly be in charge of setting a BCI loop between a virtual environment and a portable EEG system and optimising the online detection of specific EEG markers of high-level mental processes (perceptual consciousness, attention and decision-making). The successful applicant will also be involved in the design and elaboration of research protocols. Candidates should have at least a master or engineering degree in a relevant domain (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics) and a solid training in BCI, EEG signal processing, machine learning and fast calculations for real time applications. Experience with real virtuality is desirable but not a prerequisite.
The successful applicant will be affiliated to the Brain and Consciousness team of Dr Sid Kouider (http_nospam_www.lscp.net/persons/sidk/) at the Institute of Cognitive Science in Paris. The institute offers a rich research environment composed of a multidisciplinary set of research units on philosophy, cognitive psychology, cognitive neurosciences and computational neurosciences. Our lab is located in central Paris, within the historical Quartier Latin.
Knowledge of French is not required as the team is international and verbal interactions are primarily in English.
Consideration of applicants will commence June 15th, 2014 and will continue until the position is filled.
The appointment is for one year initially but can be extended later on.
The net salary will range between 2 100 and 2 600 euros/month depending on qualifications.
The position will start from September 2014.
